SMSC assembly plan & presentation - Spiritual

(0)
Primary school SMSC assembly plan and presentation based on the word ‘Spiritual’ and informed by the government’s advice document on promoting fundamental British values as part of Spiritual Moral Social and Cultural development in schools. The assembly helps children to understand the meaning of the words ‘spiritual’ and ‘spirituality’ and that this can be, but is not exclusively, linked to religion and faith. They apply the concept to themselves first and then extend it to the wider world, in this case through a social story based on an incident that happened to a child in one of my classes a few years ago. There is a reflection at the end of the assembly for children to consider the importance of spirituality in their own lives and of respecting the beliefs of others.

The assemblies all begin with an engaging hook that allows children to understand the focus word for that assembly. The children are then supported to apply the word to themselves in a personal context before expanding the idea at a broader level. All of the assemblies finish with a reflection. Unit of work: survival, healthy eating, healthy lifestyles and hygiene

Fun 5 lesson science unit of work for Year 2 animals including humans curriculum with a pirate theme. The pupils are the captain of their own ship and they have a very unhealthy crew that they must whip into shape! The unit begins with the basic needs of animals for survival and moves onto healthy lifestyles, including exercise, healthy eating and hygiene. I had lots of fun with my class teaching this unit and some good discussions which threw up misconceptions. Included in this resource are a detailed planning document with ideas for differentiation and extension plus all the digital resources required to deliver the lessons. You will get: - Planning document for the unit of work - Starter activity for session 1 - Presentation to support session 3 - Activity cards

Tidying up song

The children in my year 1 class were hopeless at tidying up at the end of a lesson. I wrote this song to remind then of the tidying up roles and to focus them on the task. It has worked a treat! (PS Sing to the tune of 'Pop Goes the Weasel&')
